Medusa's Revenge (メデューサの逆襲 Medyūsa no Gyakushū, "Medusa's Counterattack") is a 2012 Japanese animated short film produced by Studio 4°C. It was the second of the Kid Icarus 3D Anime to premiere. It was available to stream periodically via Nintendo Video on the Nintendo 3DS in March 2012 to promote the launch of Kid Icarus: Uprising and was later released as a downloadable video application for the 3DS as a My Nintendo reward.[1] The short follows the tale of Medusa and Palutena's rivalry prior to the original Kid Icarus, right up to the beginning of Uprising.[2]
Plot[]

Narrated by Palutena, the story begins with the goddess explaining her imprisonment during the events of the original Kid Icarus and how Pit came to her rescue. The screen briefly transitions to a scene of Palutena informing Pit that she is in need of his help once more, granting him the Power of Flight before he takes to the skies. It then displays a flashback of Medusa firing beams at a small town, petrifying various humans in the process—however, Palutena interrupts and confronts her, causing conflict between the two.

The screen returns to the present, in which Palutena states that both the Overworld and Skyworld are in danger due to the Underworld Army's invasion. As Pit fights off Underworld troops using his First Blade, he flies upward to find Medusa emerging from the clouds, where the two finally come face-to-face.

Trivia[]
- This is the only short of the Kid Icarus 3D Anime that does not span multiple parts.
- This is the shortest of the Kid Icarus 3D Anime, including the separate parts of the other short films.
- This is one of the only depictions of Medusa before her appearance was cursed by Palutena in the entire Kid Icarus franchise (the only other depictions include the Kid Icarus game manual and the Wanpakku Technique Manga). In this short, she appears to be a relatively attractive young woman with pale skin and long black hair, along with purple glowing eyes.
- Her appearance in this short is similar to her appearance in the Wanpakku Technique Manga, with both depicting her with pale skin, long black hair, and wearing a black dress. Both differ drastically from her depiction in the Kid Icarus game manual, where she appears as a woman with long blonde curly hair and a pink dress.
