Super Kid Icarus is a rumored canceled game in the Kid Icarus series planned for the SNES. The game was first mentioned in the February 1994 issue of Italian gaming magazine Game Power.[1] The game was reportedly in development in 1994 and was set to be unveiled at the CES annual trade show either in summer or winter of that year, supposedly releasing in early 1995, according to British gaming magazine Super Play.[2] It was then announced in the March 1996 issue of gaming magazine GameFan that Nintendo was planning a Kid Icarus game for the console at the time, and that fans would have to wait for more news.[3] No further news on the game was ever given, and it has since been labeled as canceled.
Trivia[]
- Due to the game only being referenced by three gaming magazines and never being officially announced by Nintendo, the game's existence has been questioned.
- There exists a fan game titled Super Kid Icarus, developed by Flip Industries in Adobe Flash, which is more or less a 16-bit remake of the original Kid Icarus for the NES, that was released in May 2011.[4]
