The Water of Life (生命の酒 Seimei no Sake, "Saké of Life") is an item that debuted in the original Kid Icarus.
Appearances[]
Kid Icarus[]
Chalice[]
“When he has got it, Pit gets one measure of strength back.” |
The Water of Life chalice (生命の酒(カップ) Seimei no Sake (Kappu), "Saké of Life (Cup)") is an item found throughout many stages, restoring seven health points once touched.
Merchants normally sell these for 210 hearts, though it can be lowered to 100 or raised to 400 depending on whether or not an attempted haggling was successful.
Bottle[]
“When Pit has this, his strength recovers by one meter section when his strength has gone down to 0. He can only carry one bottle unless he has a water barrel.” |
The Water of Life bottle (生命の酒(ビン) Seimei no Sake (Bin), "Saké of Life (Bottle)") is the portable version of the chalice, kicking in should Pit's health reach zero. He is forced to carry one at a time, though the purchase of a Water Barrel will allow him to carry eight instead.
Merchants normally sell these for 350 hearts, though it can be lowered to 270 or raised to 760 depending on whether or not an attempted haggling was successful.
Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters[]
Goblet[]
“One little Goblet full of the Water of Life restores Pit's life energy a little bit.” |
Not available in stores, Water of Life goblets restore a small amount of health. These can be found throughout many stages, and have a chance of being dropped by enemies.
Chalice[]
“One big Chalice full of the Water of Life restores Pit's life one full block. The Chalice will restore Pit's life as soon as he touches it.” |
Similar to the goblet, only it restores one full block of Pit's health and can be purchased from stores. These will be sold for 100 hearts on normal stages and 150 in fortresses.
Bottle[]
“One Bottle full of the Water of Life extends Pit's life for one full block. Pit can stock 1 Bottle for later use. When his Strength display reaches 0, the Bottle is automatically used.” |
Acting as a portable version of the Water of Life chalice, the Water of Life bottle will kick in should Pit's health reach zero. He is forced to carry one at a time, though the purchase of a Water Barrel will allow him to carry eight instead.
Merchants will sell these for 250 hearts on a normal stage and 300 in a fortress, while Black Marketeers will sell them for 300 or 150 depending on whether or not an attempted haggling was successful.

Trivia[]
- In the Japanese version of Kid Icarus, the Water of Life is known as the "Saké of Life," referring to the Japanese rice wine saké. The differences between its Japanese and English names was likely the result of censorship.
- The Drink of the Gods from Kid Icarus: Uprising is likely an updated version of the Water of Life.
